Homemade Facial Masks For All Skin Types

Skin problems have become a regular feature in our lives, thanks to lack of sleep, stress, environmental pollution and malnutrition. Add to it the fact that we have no to nil time to spend hours in skin care clinics or pamper our skin with tonics available in the market. We would rather laze around the house, spending a few quality moments with our loved ones rather than spend ages in skin care clinics.

Dry and lifeless skin does need repair at least once in a while. Skin loses its natural shine and elasticity if we do not take much care in having nutritious food and drink plenty of water. Environmental pollution is another factor that makes our skin dry and clogged, leading to skin infections and pimples. If you love to spend time at home, why not try these homemade facial masks that allow you to be at home and take good care of your skin as well?

While regular cleansing of skin can achieve only a superficial cleaning, we need facial masks that can dig deep into the pores and draw out the stubborn dirt and dust that have been caught inside the pores. Facial masks help in exfoliation of skin and unclogging of pores along with improving blood circulation. Using a facial mask every week will leave your skin smooth and silky to touch.
Homemade Facial Masks

Homemade facial masks are easy to make and have abundant benefits that beauty products from the markets lack. They are devoid of chemicals and offer the nourishment and protection of naturally occurring substances.
Honey Facial Mask

Honey is known for its many cosmetic benefits. Honey can safely be called the best naturally occurring facial mask for all skin types. It aides in the opening of pores. Pores have to be opened and cleaned before any skin care regimen. Once the pores are opened, removing the dirt that is caught inside becomes easy. Smear honey on your face and neck and leave it on for 15 minutes. Wash off with warm water. Honey ensures that the pores are well cleaned. Make sure you close the pores on your face by splashing cold water after the honey is removed. Closing the pores will prevent dirt from entering the skin again.
Almond and Egg Homemade Facial Mask

Almond and egg combination is good, especially for dry skin. Almond has antioxidants, minerals and vitamins that act on the skin and energise it. The abundant quantities of vitamin E present in almonds help the skin from ageing and wrinkling. The vitamin D present in eggs along with the proteins pierce the skin and give a burst of energy for your skin.

For the mask, mix one egg along with one teaspoon of almond oil. Leave it on for fifteen minutes. Egg is a natural toner as well. Once you rinse off the face mask, a glowing, well moisturised and nourishing skin will be revealed to you.
Yoghurt and Cucumber Facial Mask

Both yoghurt and cucumber have amazing cooling properties that leave your skin with a burst of fresh air. One peeled cucumber can be blended with two tablespoons of rich yoghurt. Apply it on the face and leave it for 15 minutes. Wash it off after that and splash cold water on the face for better toning. Yoghurt cleanses the skin beautifully, removing all the dirt and grime caught between the pores. Cucumber helps in removing all the excess oil and leaves your skin completely balanced.
Facial Mask with Cornmeal

Cornmeal facial mask is good for oily skin. Cornmeal removes all the excess oil present in your skin and leaves it soft and smooth. Add sufficient water to cornmeal to make it into a thick paste. Apply on the face and neck area and leave it on till it dries completely. Make sure that you avoid the delicate skin around the eyes and lips as cornmeal mixture can dry and pull the delicate skin too much. Remove it with cold water. You can dab on a little moisturiser to prevent the skin from becoming too dry. For dry skin, you can add a few drops of olive or almond oil along with the cornmeal facial mask.
Facial Mask with Avocado

Avocado is rich in oil and hence this facial mask suits dry skin best. Mash sufficient avocados and blend it in a blender until it becomes a smooth paste.  You can apply this on your face and neck and leave it on until it dries. Avocado immediately regains the lost moisture in the skin and leaves your skin supple and well moisturised. Women who have dry skin can try this every day for preventing dryness and premature ageing from settling in. Avocados are also good for removing dark circles under the eyes.  So you get the double benefit of perfect softness and lightened dark circles by using this facial mask.
Facial Mask with Apple

Using apples for making facial masks have their own benefits. Apple has excellent antioxidant properties and some special varieties are known to have abundant elastin and collagen which are great for preserving skin elasticity. Apples also supply your skin with vitamins A, B and C.

Take two tablespoons of oatmeal powder, one tablespoon of honey and two table spoons of cornmeal. Add half of an apple to these and blend well till you get a fine paste. Smear the paste onto your skin, moving in gentle circular motion. Leave it till dry and wash it off with cold water. This facial mask removes the dead skin cells from your face and tones it to perfection. Honey helps in moisturising your skin leaving it fresh and glowing after the treatment.
Banana, Yoghurt and Honey Facial Mask

Bananas have potassium and have antioxidants that help in treating acne. Rubbing banana skin on you face will leave it sparkling. For making the facial mask, mix one teaspoon honey with two teaspoons of yoghurt and mash one banana with this mixture. Make it into a smooth paste and apply it on the face and neck. Once it dries off, rinse the mask off with cold water.

Homemade facial masks retain the natural moisture of your face and prevent damage from chemicals used in products available in the market.
